HOW TO REINSTATE YOUR COVID-19 SRD GRANT:

Reinstating the Special Covid-19 R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant is amongst a number of issues that beneficiaries are currently struggling with.

President Cyril Ramaphosa took the decision to reinstate the R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant until March 2022.

From its inception, there have been changes such as the grant’s eligibility criteria including unemployed caregivers who receive the child support grant (CSG) on behalf of children.

Now, there are individuals that had cancelled their grant due to being employed, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) permits them to apply for their grant to be reinstated if their circumstances have changed.

Sassa has provided individuals with the following steps to reinstate the R350 SRD grant:

  1. Go to the SRD website
  2. Scroll all the way down to the last tab – Under the Cancel My Application tab, click on ‘reinstate my cancelled grant application’
  3. Insert your ID number and mobile number  in the required fields
  4. Click on the ‘send pin’ button
  5. You will then receive a text message with an One-Time-Pin
  6. Fill the OTP in the required field
  7. Click on the ‘Verify pin ‘button
  8. Choose a reason to instate the grant (Reasons may be: “Cancelled in error”, “No longer have income”, Other) 
  9. You will then receive a text message asking you whether you are sure that you want to reinstate the grant or not 
  10. Click “Yes” to continue

  1. Open your internet browser
  2. Search for https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
  3. You will then have to submit your ID number and mobile number 
  4. Once you have done that, click the ‘send sms’ button
  5. Insert the One Time Pin (OTP) number and click ‘verify pin’
  6. Continue to step 2: Agree To Terms and Conditions
