Sassa WhatsApp Line For R350 Grant Applications

Sassa’s R350 grant application portal is open. This means that you can now apply for your R350 grant online or via WhatsApp.

With new regulations in action, it seems as if the R350 grant was renewed. With beneficiaries having to re-apply, more application portals are now opening.

After the National State of Disaster came to an end, the regulations under which the Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant was managed changed. This lead to beneficiaries having to reapply.

SRD grant applications opened online on 23 April with Sassa announcing that soon after, the WhatsApp line would open and be used for applications as well.

Sassa officially announced that the WhatsApp line is now open for R350 grant applications.

Here’s how to submit your Sassa SRD grant application on WhatsApp:

  1. Add 082 046 8553 as a contact on your phone
  2. Go on WhatsApp and send a message saying ‘hi’ to this number
  3. You will then receive a response and you should then respond saying ‘help’
  4. You will be given various options, reply saying ‘4’
  5. This will lead you to the Unathi Sassa platform message which you should reply ‘SRD’ to
  6. You then have to confirm whether you’re applying for yourself or someone else
  7. Now the actual application begins and you’ll have to submit your name, surname and ID number in the message.
  8. You will then receive a message on Whatsapp stating the next steps.

In order to access or to have your SRD grant application considered, an applicant must grant consent for Sassa to verify his or her identity, residency, income or social security benefits. Applicants will also need to accept the declaration and consent.

Sassa has said that all clients who reapplied using srd.sassa.gov.za should not apply again on WhatsApp.
