The South African Social Security Agency has released a unique number to help beneficiaries check their balance without using airtime or needing an internet connection. Sassa beneficiaries can check their Sassa balance just by using a ussd code via a cellphone.
Other ways Sassa applicants can check their balance is through the Sassa WhatsApp number or via the Sassa website (srd.sassa.gov.za).
Dial *120*3210# and follow the prompts to check your #SASSA balance on your phone.
The South African President established the special Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD) OF Sassa R350 to be given to citizens of South Africa who are not receiving any income during the pandemic.
Before the Covid-19 outbreak, SASSA allowed applicants to receive R350 grants for older people, foster children, and child support. However, the president started the social relief of distress award due to the National State of Distress he announced.
Visit sassa.gov.za and follow the instructions to submit an SRD application. Enter the one-time pin that SASSA has sent to the number after clicking the “send SMS” button.
