Sassa News Today – Sassa has recently made another change in the revamping of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, disbursed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). Here is what you need to know.
The SRD grant is a support system for millions of South Africans. Sassa announced recently that it will undergo some changes, which will affect how beneficiaries use the grant.
This rule no longer exists due to the amended regulations.
Previously, beneficiaries had to reconfirm their grant status with Sassa at least once every three months. The agency has now said this is unnecessary.
“Due to amended regulations clients do not need to resubmit responses to screening questions,” reads Sassa’s announcement.
The Special Covid-19 SRD grant has improved the lives of those in need. Sassa also urged applicants whose applications were rejected or declined to submit an appeal, only if they qualify.
