Sassa said beneficiaries of the R350 Social Relief of Distress grant should expect to receive the August grant payment as it is now being paid. The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has experienced a number of delays in disbursing R350 Social Relief (SRD) grants to eligible beneficiaries due to changes in the digital system resulting from changes to the SRD grant rules.

Sassa states that beneficiaries will be able to collect her August payments released from her on September 21, 2022.

Beneficiaries can receive subsidy payments through their bank accounts or receive subsidy payments from these selected stores

  • Checkers
  • Usave
  • Shoprite
  • Pick ‘n Pay
  • Boxer

Beneficiaries will only need to visit these stores to receive their grant payment after receiving a text message from Sassa indicating that the grant is available.

These beneficiaries will need a registered mobile phone number and a mobile phone to prove their identity when receiving grant payments.

Please note that beneficiaries do not need to receive the grant on the day it becomes available as the grant remains in their account until they need to access it.

Those who choose to receive grant payments using a bank account are encouraged to ensure that the bank details they provide in their grant application are correct. Otherwise, there will be a delay in receiving your R350 grant payment.

No payment date has been set for grants received in bank accounts, but Sassa will choose a bank account payment method to allow beneficiaries to access her R350 grants from anywhere I encourage you to do so.

All recipients are required to keep their contact information up-to-date on their R350 grant application to avoid delays in grant payments.
