The VAT Vendor Search is designed to verify VAT numbers only if the correct business name is entered. VAT Vendor Search is subject to the SARS e-Filing Terms and Conditions. Users should be aware that the database is updated weekly. To use the VAT Vendor Search facility you must have 128-bit encryption installed on your browser.

In this article, you’ll find a VAT Vendor through the SARS website via www.sars.gov.za.

Last year, one of the amendments effected to the VAT Act allowed SARS to publish the names and registration numbers of vendors. The Explanatory Memorandum to the Bill gave the following explanation:

“Business enterprises and members of the public need to be able to verify whether persons who supply goods and services to them are registered vendors for VAT purposes. The availability of this information will also facilitate investigations and encourage reporting of tax evaders.

  • Click on VAT
  • Click on VAT vendor search
  • Follow the instructions thereafter.
