The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) officially opened its 2023 application window on 28 September 2022. The application period will close on the 31 January 2023. Applicants must fill in the student loan details, including their physical address and contact details, as well as a copy of a student ID card or national identity document.

Students who applied for NSFAS assistance will not have to wait until the institutions resume in late January. Starting on January 31, students can be confident that the funds set aside for their fees will be available and ready for them to claim immediately.
Students can now apply for funding from the comfort of their own homes. Funding applications can be submitted on the NSFAS portal, myNSFAS (an online application service). This app was developed to make it easier for students and parents to apply for funding. NSFAS also offers additional channels which students can use to apply for funding, including a mobile application, USSD and WhatsApp.
