In today’s Sassa latest news update – The South Africa Social Security Agency (Sassa) has cautioned its grant beneficiaries against any untrue information that has gone viral and misleading the agency’s recipients.

There is a post which is targeted against social grant beneficiaries going viral on social media platforms.

The post suggested that using the gold Post Office payment card will be required to visit Sassa offices in order to be issued with a new payment card.

Also, the post claimed that recipients won’t receive their December grant, should they fail to do this.

In reaction, Sassa labelled the information as false as they warned its clients against such information.

In a statement, Sassa said;

Sassa cards are still valid and active, please do not go to Sassa offices to be issued with a new card.

This was after a nationwide system failure at South Africa’s post office which negatively affected social beneficiaries.

Postbank has since apologized for the inconvenience caused to all scholarship holders. and pointed out how important scholarship payments are to the existence of many South Africans.

A Sassa spokesperson advised beneficiaries to use her Sassa Gold Her card to retrieve money from ATMs and retail outlets such as Shoprite, Checkers and Pick n Pay.
