To understand this, we first need to define what UIF TERS is. UIF refers to the Unemployment Insurance Fund and TERS refers to the temporary employer/employee relief schemes introduced during the Covid-19 period to help people and businesses affected by lockdowns. Only those whose employer has registered for unemployment insurance will be helped or assisted. Also, note that UIF TERS does not rely on the standards of the UIF credit system. This means that any such relief will have no impact on your current balance. Therefore, it is important to know how to check the UIF TERS payment status.
Checking Your UIF Payment Status
- First visit the UIF TERS Payment Status Page
- Enter the unique captcha code provided to you
- Select the lockdown period for which you are meant to receive benefits for
- Enter your official ID number

The same UIF benefits were applied to workers who lost their income due to social unrest in parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng provinces. However, this falls under the WABU (Workers Affected by Unrest) benefit plan.
