Feenix is an online crowdfunding platform that allows university students to raise money to fund their tertiary education. Students can post fundraising campaigns on Feenix, and receive donations in various currencies from friends and family members.

Feenix allows people all around the world to see you, what you’re studying and how much money you need to cover your studies. People are able to see the amount of money that people have already donated, who you are and the progress of your project. This can be a very powerful motivator for potential donors.

If you are a student and follow the guidelines set forth in our community, we will hopfully take you on as a host. In order to apply please visit www.feenix.org and click on “register” under the menu option. Then follow the prompts for student profile registration.

Feenix Requirements

Here’s the qualifying criteria ;

• You must be a South African citizen/permanent resident/refugee or asylum seeker
• You must have a certified copy of your identity document
• You must be registered at a public South African university
• You must have an official* fee statement (it must be less than 30 days old and have an official university letterhead 
• Your combined household income must be under R600k per year

Feenix is an international non-profit organisation. To ensure your donation reaches the people it strives to help, Feenix takes 7.5% of each donation made. This will cover administrative costs for both us and our partner organisations.

Feenix is a government-supported student loan scheme, running in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. We’ve helped millions of students to fund their studies and there’s no cost to you – the lender pays the 7.5% admin fee.
