To use the University of oldenburg library, you need to register first and get your account. This includes providing your name and address, as well as a valid form of ID. If you are underage, you will also need a letter of consent from a parent or guardian. The Oldenburg library card costs 5,- €. With this card you can borrow books, magazines and audiobooks. In addition, the University of Oldenburg offer several journals and newspapers in digital format. You can use your library card to access the Internet and download material from our digital collections. The ORBIS Libraries operate a joint search portal called ORBISplus, to which users can access from the respective library homepage from the library.

Inter-Library Loan

The ORBIS Library card enables you to borrow books, movies and music from many libraries in the United States. You may also register at the other two ORBIS libraries for free with this card.

If you need a book not available at the ORBIS libraries, you may order it from another library and have it sent to the Oldenburg Regional Library.

The Regional Library is partially a closed stacks library. The books in the open shelf area may be taken directly off the shelf and borrowed from the desk. However, there are also some books that must be checked out by a Librarian at the check out desk.

The Oldenburg Regional Library is one of three scientific libraries in Oldenburg. Along with the University Library (BIS) and the library of the University of Applied Sciences, it is located on the main campus. The library specializes in sciences; especially in those areas related to business, social sciences and political science. The library is also open to public who do not have a membership card to other libraries.

How to Login To University of Oldenburg Library

You can sign in to all Online Library services using your Portal username and password. This is the same username and password you use to log into your Virtual Learning Environment. Your UID is always 12 digits long, e.g. ab123.

Students, faculty, and staff may access library resources through their My Record portal account.To access Online Library resources, search Summon, the search box in the middle of the homepage. After you click on one of the search results, you will be asked to login.

You can also login from your programme gateway. From your gateway, you can log directly into the database you need and then search within the database.
