The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is on track with January 2023  Disbursement

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced that it will be disbursing social grant payments for January 2023 starting on January 3rd. SASSA encouraged clients to make use of the various options available for accessing their funds, such as retailers and ATMs, and reminded those with SASSA gold cards that they can still use them at any location that accepts bank card transactions.

Payments for older person grants will be made first on January 3rd, followed by disability grants on January 4th and child support grants on January 5th. However, if the second day of the month falls on a weekend or public holiday, the payment will be postponed to the next business day.

SASSA also reminded beneficiaries to be cautious of potential scammers and to exercise care when accessing their grants, including avoiding carrying large amounts of cash and checking to ensure they receive their card back after every purchase.

SASSA urged those who have applied for the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant to update their banking information on the online platform as needed.
