SRD Sassa Status

The Social Relief of Distress application tracking feature allows you to track the status of your SRD application. You can also request to be notified by email if there is any update in your application. If you receive a status that your grant is active, it’s best for you to follow through and check what it means.

The President introduced the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) due to pandemic adding on an existing unemployment rate. The economy is to bounce back from the adverse effects of pandemic mitigating a large portion of unemployment in the jobs market.

The SRD grant is intended to provide an allowance to unemployed South African citizens and refugees, as well as special permit holders between 18 and 60 years old, who have lived in South Africa for at least three consecutive months.

If you have submitted your SRD grant application, ‘SRD Grant Is Now Active’ might be the first application status that you see.

According to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) this means that the government agency has received your application and will communicate the outcome of your application in due course.

To track your application online, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the SASSA SRD grant website
  2. Scroll down to ‘Application status’
  3. Click on ‘Click here to check online’
  4. Fill in the required fields
  5. You should then be able to see the status of your R350 grant application
