Unisa Assessment Report Delay: What You Need to Know

The independent assessor appointed to investigate governance and management issues at University of South Africa (Unisa) will not be submitting his report to the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation until March 2023.

Professor Themba Mosia, who was appointed in September 2022 to investigate issues at Unisa, was originally expected to submit his report by the end of last year.

However, he has since applied for and been granted an extension by the minister. Mosia, the Vice-Principal for Student Life at the University of Pretoria, is tasked with investigating the effectiveness of Unisa’s governance and management structures, as well as allegations of financial irregularities and the state of human resource policies and practices at the university.

The report will be made public once the minister has considered it.
