Sassa Gold Cards

Sassa Gold Cards are a way for beneficiaries to get more out of their r350 grants. They offer a range of benefits, including:

  • A monthly cashback of R100 for every child in your care (up to a maximum of 10 children)
  • Free school uniforms and stationery for primary school children, as well as meals at some schools
  • An additional R250 per month if you’re unemployed or disabled, or if your child has special needs
    To be eligible for Sassa Gold Cards, you must be a beneficiary with an active grant account and have received least one payment from the Department of Social Development since July 1 2018.

How To Renew Expired Gold Cards

To renew your Sassa Gold Card, your will need:

  • A valid proof of residence (POP) document, such as a utility bill or bank statement. This must be less than three months old.
    You can also bring along one of the following documents to show that you live at the address on your POP:
  • Copy of title deed or lease agreement for property in which beneficiary resides;
  • Letter from landlord confirming beneficiary’s residency;
  • If none of these options work for you, then go ahead and apply for a new card!

Important Dates To Remember

If you have a gold card, you renew it before the deadline. If you fail to renew your card by the deadline, your benefits will be stopped, and any funds in your account will be forfeited. You will also be charged a late renewal penalty of R200 per month for each month that has passed since the expiry date of your old card.

Once your new Sassa Gold Card has been issued by Sassa and activated, please ensure that all beneficiaries are aware of this change so that they can use their new cards when making withdrawals from ATMs or paying bills at retail outlets which accept payments through Sassa Gold Cards.
