If you applied for the R350 grant for May 2023 and were rejected, you were given an opportunity to appeal the decision made by the South African Social Security Agency. If you submitted an appeal, you can track its status in a few steps.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) is responsible for providing social relief to some of the country’s most vulnerable citizens. This includes disability grants, child support grants, old age grants, among others. One of the most recent of these grants is the Social Relief of Distress Grant, also known as the “R350” or “SRD grant”.

The R350 grant was introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic, to provide financial relief to those who were unemployed and had no other source of income. Due to the number of people relying on this grant, Sassa has extended it numerous times.

At this stage, the R350 grant extension is applicable until March 2024.

If you applied for the R350 grant for May 2023, but were rejected, you may have lodged an appeal to the agency. Here is how you can track the status of your appeal.
